Frequently asked question · Social Monitoring

Does Social Monitoring monitor our social accounts?

No. It works from the source URLs that AI answers cite for the prompts we track for you, keeping the ones that belong to a social network. Account access, feeds, hashtags, likes, upvotes, views, and follower counts all sit outside that. A page earns its row only by being cited in an AI answer, however popular it is.

Where the rows come from

Each daily run puts every tracked prompt to every enabled engine and stores every source URL the answers cite, with tracking parameters stripped. The Social tab keeps the URLs whose host belongs to one of seven networks, collapses the different forms of one page onto a single row, and ranks the rows by citations. Nothing else feeds it. There is no account connection to set up, no login to share, and nothing that reads a feed or watches a subreddit.

That is also why a page from an account you have never heard of can sit at the top of the table. The engines chose it as evidence, and the table reports that choice.

What ownership means here

The platform does hold profile URLs for your brand and each competitor, but it uses them for one thing. An account-shaped row, such as a LinkedIn company page, a YouTube channel, a subreddit, or a profile on X, is matched against those URLs and reads You, the competitor's name, or Third-party. Content rows always show a dash. Knowing that a cited channel is yours is useful; knowing whether the answers citing it name you is the number that matters, and that is the Mentioned column.

What the narrower question buys you

Social listening asks what people are saying about you across the networks. Social Monitoring asks which social pages the AI engines treat as evidence for the questions your buyers ask, and whether you are in the answers built on them. A thread with twelve upvotes that ChatGPT cites every day counts for more here than a viral post the engines never touch, and it is a target you can do something about.
