For SEO & content teams

Rankings held. Traffic fell. Get cited instead.

“My CMO wants proof that our content earns citations, not just clicks.”

You hold the rankings and the sessions slide anyway, because the answer now sits above the results and cites whoever it trusts. We show you how each AI engine reads your site, and which of your pages it cites for which prompts. You also see who is beating you there, and the fix list per template.

The gap

What your stack reports, and what the engines do

Your reporting was built for a results page, and the engines have stopped serving one.

What your SEO stack reports

What the engines do

Position 3, impressions up, CTR down, and nothing in the report explains why.Answer in full and cite three to six sources. The click, if any, goes to those.
Crawl stats for Googlebot. GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot are invisible.Read your robots.txt as written. One stray disallow and you are out of ChatGPT.
Backlinks, but no idea which pages the engines cite.Trust a Reddit thread or a competitor’s comparison over your pillar page.
Briefs built around a keyword and a volume.Answer prompts nobody types into Google, and cite the page that answers directly.

The problem

Where content teams are losing to the answer

The rankings are intact. What you lost is the click, the citation, and the metric that would prove either. Meanwhile your CMO wants a GEO strategy, and there is no budget for a new team.

  • Flat traffic, stable rankings

The head terms hold and the sessions slide anyway, because the AI Overview answered the question and cited someone else. Your dashboard has no row for that.

  • No citation metric in the stack

Search Console, GA4, and the rank tracker report clicks, impressions, and positions. None say whether ChatGPT cited your page yesterday, or for which prompt.

  • GPTBot blocked, by nobody

An old robots.txt rule, a WAF default, or a CDN bot list ends up blocking an AI crawler that nobody chose to block. You find out when an answer comes back without you.

  • Briefs written for keywords

Your briefs open with a keyword and a volume. The engine answers a whole question for one person and cites the page that answers it first, while yours ranks.

  • Beaten by a Reddit thread

Your pillar page has the depth and the links. The answer cites a Reddit thread, a YouTube review, and a competitor’s comparison table, sources your content plan never considered.

Why now

The click is going. What is left to win is the citation.

What we do about it

The AI-side view your stack is missing, specified for your team

Four things Search Console cannot tell you, built from daily runs of your buyers’ questions across every major AI engine.

The audit

How each engine reads your site, per template, with the fix list

This is a different job from a crawl report. We check each URL against the 21 things that decide whether a page can be retrieved and cited: robots.txt access for 20 AI bots, llms.txt, sitemap, canonicals, heading hierarchy, content depth, server-rendered text against a client-side shell, structured data.

We audit one URL per template, because your fixes ship per template. Each check comes back pass, warn, or fail with the value that tripped it, split by who owns the fix.

  • A verdict for GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, OAI-SearchBot, Google-Extended, and 15 more
  • Specified for your team to ship. On Managed GEO, our team ships it.

The sources

Which pages and sources the engines cite in your category, and why

Every day we run your buyers’ questions across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, and Google AI Mode, and keep every answer with every source it cited. The cited-pages and cited-domains tables show which URL wins each prompt, marked as yours, a competitor’s, or third-party.

The Reddit thread, the YouTube review, and the competitor’s comparison all turn up there, ranked by how often the engines lean on them, with what each one has that your page is missing.

  • Reddit, YouTube, and LinkedIn pages ranked by how often AI answers cite them

The reporting

Citations and share of voice, in the same deck as rankings

Your rank tracker answers one question: where the page sits. We add the ones your CMO asks now: how often each engine names you, how early in the answer, your share of voice against the competitors it names, and which of your pages get cited, for which prompts.

Every number comes from the daily runs, filtered by engine, market, tag, or persona, and saved as a report your team opens next to Search Console.

  • Position score, 0 to 100: how early in the answer you appear
  • Movers: the prompts, competitors, and cited domains that gained or lost

The content

A draft for your weakest prompt, every week, for your editors

A content routine is a standing instruction on the platform. On schedule it picks the tracked prompt where you are weakest, by lowest visibility, widest competitor gap, or latest mention. Then it reads what the engines answer and cite today, researches the question, and writes one draft built to be the cited source.

It lands in a review queue with its sources, a brief on what the current answers miss, and a short FAQ. Your editors approve it, revise it with an instruction, or reject it with a reason, and nothing goes live until one of them signs off.

  • Answers the question in the first paragraph, every claim traceable to a source, in the brand voice you set

The engagement

Strategy your team ships, or work we ship for you

Questions SEO leads ask us

Before you take this to your CMO

How is GEO different from the SEO we already do?

SEO earns a position on a results page. GEO earns a citation inside a generated answer. The engines read the same site, but they pick sources differently: a direct answer in the first paragraph, first-hand detail, freshness, and access for their crawlers count for more than link equity. Most of what you ship for SEO still helps. GEO adds the measurement your stack does not have: mention rate, citations, and share of voice per engine, plus the fixes and content that move them.

Will this conflict with our SEO program?

No. Nothing we recommend trades a ranking for a citation. The audit fixes are things Google rewards anyway: server-rendered content, clean canonicals, a heading hierarchy, crawler access. The drafts answer a question your buyers ask and go through your editors, so they slot into the calendar and clusters you already run. Anything that touches a template you own waits for your review before it ships.

Do we have to change our templates?

Usually a few, not all. The audit runs on one URL per template, so you see which template fails which check: a blog template rendering client-side, a product template with no meta description, a robots.txt rule blocking two crawlers site-wide. The fix list is written per template for your platform team, and the same URL is audited again after the fix ships, so a check flipping from fail to pass is the proof the work landed. Whether an engine then starts citing that template is a separate question, and the daily runs answer it in their own time rather than on a date we invented.

What do we report to leadership?

The report your CMO is asking for: mention rate and citation rate per engine, share of voice against named competitors, position in the answer, and the prompts, competitors, and sources that moved since last month, each tied to the work shipped. It sits beside rankings and traffic in the same deck. We walk through it on a monthly call, and it is a saved view on the platform your team can open any day.

Can our writers use the drafts?

Yes, that is who they are for. Every draft arrives with the prompt it answers, a brief that says what the current answers are missing, verified sources, and a short FAQ. Your editors approve it, send it back to the agent with an instruction, or reject it with a reason. Nothing publishes by itself. The drafts follow the brand voice and standing instructions you set, and an approved draft is yours to publish in your CMS.
