What does "Mentioned" mean in the table?

Answers citing this page that also mention your brand. Answers is the number of distinct AI answers that cited the page in the window; Mentioned is how many of those named you anywhere in the answer, matched on your brand’s aliases and owned domains. The counting happens at the level of the answer, so mentions inside the thread itself, and any sentiment around them, stay out of the number. Open the row to see each answer tagged brand mentioned or brand not mentioned.

The three counts on a row

Citations is how many times AI answers cited the page in the window. Answers is how many distinct answers those citations came from; one answer can cite the same thread more than once, so Citations is never lower than Answers. Mentioned is how many of those answers name your brand anywhere in their text, matched on your aliases and owned domains. A thread cited in 63 answers that mentions you in 21 of them is doing a third of its job for you.

Mentioned is always read against Answers, not Citations, because the question it answers is about answers: of the times an engine built a reply on this page, how often were you in that reply.

What it does not count

The number is computed on the answer, never on the page. Whether the thread itself praises you, ignores you, or argues about you is not read, and neither is any sentiment in the answer around your name. An answer that says "Zenith is the safer choice than Acme" mentions both brands, and each gets one. Ownership is separate too: your own YouTube channel can show a low Mentioned count if the engines cite it in answers that name a competitor.

Reading the detail

Open the row and the three counts become tiles with their change against the previous window, or read new when there is no prior data. Under them sit a chart of whichever count you pick over time, the split across engines, the prompts driving the citations, and the citing answers themselves, each tagged brand mentioned or brand not mentioned and linked to the full answer. At the top is the date your brand first appeared in an answer citing that page.
