Platform · Social Monitoring
The social pages AI answers cite, and whether you are in them.
Every day, ELEVA runs the questions your buyers ask through the AI engines and keeps every source the answers cite. Social Monitoring is the social part of that record. Reddit threads, YouTube videos, LinkedIn pages, and the rest get one row per page, ranked by how often the answers cite them, and every row carries how many of those answers also mention you.
What it is
Social Monitoring is citation analysis, not social listening. Your accounts stay untouched, nothing reads your feeds or watches subreddits and hashtags, and likes, upvotes, views, follower counts, sentiment, and any summary of what a thread says all stay outside it. It works from one input, the source URLs AI answers cite when someone asks a question you track, and from those it tells you which network each page belongs to, how often it is cited, and whether the answers citing it name your brand.
That is a narrower question than social listening asks, and a more useful one for your pipeline. A thread with twelve upvotes that ChatGPT cites every day counts for more than a viral post the engines never touch.
How it works
From a cited URL to a ranked row
Each daily run stores every source URL an answer cites, with tracking parameters stripped, and the Social tab keeps the ones belonging to seven networks. At the top, a card gives your social share: the slice of every citation in the window that came from a social network, split by network. Below that sits one card per network.
Sorted into a network by host
A citation belongs to Reddit, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, or X when its domain is one of that network's hosts, subdomains included, so pt.linkedin.com and m.facebook.com count. Shorteners such as lnkd.in, t.co, and redd.it stay out of the count. Each network's card is ordered by its share of social, and every figure carries its change against the equal-length previous window.
Collapsed to one row per page
The same page gets cited in many forms, so a link to a single Reddit comment collapses onto its thread. The watch, youtu.be, and shorts forms of one YouTube video are one row, as are a LinkedIn post's activity and feed URLs. When a network serves a page in a form we do not recognize, the row lands in an Other group and still counts. Rows then rank by citations, each with its share of the network and its movement since the previous window.
Mentioned
Open a row and see whether you are in the answers that cite it
Each row carries three counts. Citations is how many times AI answers cited the page in the window. Answers is how many distinct answers those citations came from. Mentioned is how many of those answers also name your brand, matched on your aliases and owned domains. A thread cited in 63 answers that mentions you in 21 of them is doing a third of its job for you.
Open the row and the same three figures become tiles with their change, plus a chart of whichever one you pick over time. Under that sit the split across AI engines, the prompts driving the citations, and the answers themselves, each tagged brand mentioned or brand not mentioned and linked to the full answer. At the top is the date your brand first appeared in an answer citing that page.
- Share is the page's slice of all cited pages on its network, shown with its change in points
- Every figure carries a delta against the previous window, or reads new when there is no prior data
- Social domains and pages also surface in the Movers tables, ranked on share, so growth there means a bigger slice of the network
Ownership
Your accounts, their accounts, and everyone else
Account-shaped rows (a LinkedIn company page, a YouTube channel, a subreddit, a profile on X) are matched against the profile URLs saved for your brand and for each competitor. A match reads You, or the competitor's name in its color, and everything else reads Third-party. Group a network's table by ownership and you can see how much of its cited real estate is yours, theirs, or nobody's.
Content rows (a thread, a video, a post) always show a dash in that column. Whether a page is yours matters less than whether the answers citing it name you, and that is what the Mentioned column tells you.
Why it matters
AI engines lean on social threads as evidence
Ask an AI engine for the best option in your category and the sources under the answer are as often a Reddit thread, a YouTube review, or a LinkedIn post as a vendor's own site. The engine trusts the thread, so if the thread it cites never mentions you, you are not in that answer, however good your own pages are.
7
Social networks, one ranked card each
Reddit, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X. A network with no citations still shows, drawn as a 0% line.
Daily
Every tracked prompt on every enabled engine
Each run stores every URL the answer cited, so the ranking moves as the answers themselves move.
1
Row per page, whatever the URL form
Comment links, short links, shorts, and embeds fold onto the thread or video they belong to.
500
Pages ranked per network, per window
Every row carries its citations, answers, mentioned count, share, and change, and lists up to 200 citing answers.
Inside our GEO work
The map is Discover. The target list is Optimize.
Social Monitoring shows where the engines get their evidence. The work is getting you into it.
01 · DISCOVER
It draws the earned-media map of your category: which threads, videos, and pages the engines treat as evidence for the questions you track, and how much of that evidence names you.
02 · OPTIMIZEThis feature
Every cited page that does not mention you is a target with a number on it. We work the ranked list: get you into the conversation, answer the thread, pitch the creator, publish the comparison the thread was missing.
03 · DETECT
A network's share of social moves, a new subreddit shows up in the citations, a competitor's channel starts gaining answers. The deltas and the Movers tables catch it in the window it happens.
Questions about social monitoring
What clients ask about the citations
Does Social Monitoring monitor our social accounts?
No. It works from the source URLs that AI answers cite for the prompts we track for you, keeping the ones that belong to a social network. Account access, feeds, hashtags, likes, upvotes, views, and follower counts all sit outside that. A page earns its row only by being cited in an AI answer, however popular it is.
Which networks does it cover?
Reddit, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X, matched on each network’s own hosts and their subdomains. Shortened links such as lnkd.in, t.co, and redd.it stay out of the count, and communities outside those seven, such as Quora or Medium, land in the general citation tables. A network that picked up no citations in the window still shows, as a 0% line.
Why do Reddit threads matter for AI answers?
Because the engines cite them. When ChatGPT or Perplexity answers a comparison question, it often points to a thread where real users describe what they use and why, and treats that thread as evidence. If the thread it leans on never mentions you, the answer is unlikely to either. Social Monitoring shows which threads carry that weight for your prompts, so the work goes where the engines are already looking.
Can we do anything about a thread that doesn't mention us?
Yes, and that is the point of the ranking. In Managed GEO our team works the list: a useful reply in the thread, an outreach to the creator whose video keeps getting cited, or a comparison page that gives the engine a better source. GEO Consulting & Trends hands your PR and community teams the same list with the numbers behind it. The Mentioned column then shows whether the answers citing that page started naming you.
What does "Mentioned" mean in the table?
Answers citing this page that also mention your brand. Answers is the number of distinct AI answers that cited the page in the window; Mentioned is how many of those named you anywhere in the answer, matched on your brand’s aliases and owned domains. The counting happens at the level of the answer, so mentions inside the thread itself, and any sentiment around them, stay out of the number. Open the row to see each answer tagged brand mentioned or brand not mentioned.
