Frequently asked question · Measure AI Traffic

How is measuring different from auditing what AI says?

An accuracy audit is a read of the truth at one moment: a person on our team goes through the recorded answers for your prompts, engine by engine, flags what is wrong or outdated, and traces each claim to the source the answer cited. Measurement is the ongoing record: the same prompts run every day, and each month the report sets mention rate, citation rate, share of voice, and position against the previous window. The audit tells you what to fix. The measurement tells you whether the fix, and everything else you shipped, moved the answers.

What each one reads

Both start from the same record: your buyers' questions, run once a day on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, and Google AI Mode, with every answer kept in full. What differs is the question put to that record.

The audit asks whether what the engines say is true. A person on our team reads the answers for a window, engine by engine and market by market, and logs each claim about you as correct, outdated, wrong, missing, or unfavourable framing, with the prompt it came from and the source the answer cited. The output is a report and a fix list with an owner on each line.

Measurement asks how much of the answer you hold and whether that is changing. From the same record come mention rate, citation rate, share of voice against the competitors you name, and position score, each cut by engine, country, persona, and prompt. Nobody reads claims here; the numbers are computed the same way every window so that two months can be compared.

How they fit together

The audit runs once at the start of an engagement and sets the work. The measurement runs for as long as the engagement does and tells you whether the work moved anything. Each monthly report carries every figure with its delta against the previous window of the same length, and reads those movers beside what shipped that month: the pages corrected, the content published, the sources earned. A wrong claim the audit found becomes, in the measurement, something you can follow: the citation moving from a stale directory to your corrected page, or not yet, with the date it happened on the report.
