Frequently asked question · Fix What AI Says
What if the wrong claim comes from a site we do not control?
Then the fix is a plan rather than an edit, and it is slower. If the source has someone we can write to, a directory or a review site or a publication, we send them the correction with the facts and a page of yours that states them. If it is a thread, you or we answer it, plainly and with your name on it. Either way we also publish the page that answers the exact question better than the stale source does, because the engines cite the clearest current answer they can find. A competitor’s comparison page is not going to change, but the page that outranks it in the answer can.
Three kinds of source you do not own
The cited-pages table marks every source as yours, a competitor's, or somebody else's, and the last two groups need different handling. A directory, a review site, or a publication has an editor or a support address, and a correction request with the facts and a link to a page of yours that states them is a reasonable thing to send. Sometimes it is acted on, sometimes not, and the timing is theirs.
A Reddit thread or a similar discussion has no editor, but it can be answered. The answer is plain, factual, and signed with your name, and either you post it or we draft it for you to post.
A competitor's comparison page is the hardest case, because the competitor has no reason to update it. It is tidy, it answers a direct question, and the engines quote it for prompts about you. It will keep saying what it says.
Why a new page of yours is part of every plan
The engines cite the clearest current answer they can find for a question. If the stale source is the clearest answer, it keeps getting cited. So alongside the request or the reply, a page of yours goes up that answers the exact question the wrong answer was for, with the facts stated plainly enough to be quoted. A content routine drafts it from what the engines currently answer and cite, and a person approves it before it goes live.
On Managed GEO our team writes the requests, drafts the replies, and publishes the page. On GEO Consulting and Trends your PR and content teams do, from the fix list we hand them, which names the owner of every source.
How long it takes
Slower than a rewrite on your own site, and without a date. The prompt keeps running every day, and the log records the day each engine stops repeating the claim, along with the ones that still do.
