Frequently asked question · Ecommerce & DTC

We already have a Google Shopping feed and Merchant Center. Is that not enough?

A feed gets your products listed in product cards, but it does not make an engine recommend them. ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Mode decide what to name from the open web: your product pages, comparison and buying-guide content, review sites, Reddit, and YouTube. Keep the feed. The work here is making sure those sources say your name, and say it first.

What a feed does and where it stops

A feed does one thing: it gets your products listed in product cards. That is a listing. When a shopper asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google AI Mode which one to buy under a budget, the engine is not reading a list of cards. It is composing a recommendation, and it composes it out of pages on the open web that it can read and that agree with each other. Your feed is not one of those pages, so a catalog that is perfectly fed can be crawled by every bot on the web and still be skipped by the answer.

Where the answer actually comes from

The engines assemble a shopping recommendation from a few kinds of source: product pages that say in plain text what the product is, who it is for, and what it costs; comparison and buying-guide content, "best under" and "yours vs theirs"; review sites; Reddit threads; and YouTube reviews. If the only pages answering "A vs B" are a rival's comparison and a two-year-old thread, those are what the engine summarizes, and your feed cannot change that.

What we do with those sources

We rewrite your product and collection pages so they carry the sentence the engine wants to lift. We write the buying guides and comparisons on your domain, with your product in the frame. And the daily runs rank which Reddit threads and YouTube reviews the engines cite in your category, counted from your own results rather than a general study, so we work down that ranking toward the thread quoted next month. The feed keeps doing its job in the product cards. This work is the other channel, the one the feed never reached.
